Let Us Now Praise Famous (White) Men

Måndagen 14 maj kommer Walter Benn Michaels till K3 på Malmö Högskola för att hålla en föreläsning med rubriken “Let Us Now Praise Famous (White) Men”. Innehållet beskriver han såhär:

“How should we understand the relations between race and class? What are the politics of making art out of (other people's) poverty? This talk will be about the collaboration between James Agee and Walker Evans that produced some of the most famous American photographs and a debate about the relation between art and inequality that continues today."

Michaels är professor i engelska vid Univerity of Illinois, Chicago och har tidigare bland annat publicerat böckerna The Shape of the Signifier och The Trouble With Diversity, som båda hör till mina absoluta favoriter.
